PW+ Updates (Day 2)

September 6, 2008 – 6:45 pm  

Not too much to report aside from focusing on my newbie squig herder to ensure I’ll be making the right decision at launch by rolling one. So far so good!

  1. Pathing is still buggered at times and I died several times because my pet wasn’t around to help.
  2. Squig Armour is freakin’ awesome now compared to before. You can keep your pet summoned and actually feel like a melee DPS with some resiliency! You also jump really high! /bounce
  3. I died to an Archmage one level higher than me… that was discouraging! I even got the jump on him!
  4. Runepriests are still awesome, but I think they’ve been toned down a SLIGHT bit.
  5. The scenario was popping way faster today, but maybe that’s because I joined the zerg in EvC and Nordenwatch… Any reports of Gates of Ekrund or Khaine’s Embrace?
  6. I managed to get top contribution five times in a row in the Chaos Ch3 PQ (Flagellans) and win 1st place for loot four out of the five. Lucky!
  7. People who kick my ass as a Squig Herder at level 9 - Anyone melee who closes the gap.
  8. People who I can routinely beat in a 1v1 - Most ranged DPS and Runepriests
  9. Advice of the day: Don’t let yourself become the target… YOU WILL DIIIIIIIE!
  10. UFC 88 starts in a couple hours. Let’s get it on!

The rumour I’ve heard going around is that all characters from PW+ will be wiped in preparation for Open Beta… I don’t think I will play much during OB because I’ve done the low level content so many times for testing and ‘relaxation’ that I’m starting to get bored of it. If anything, I may roll Order during OB for a change of scenery, but likely I’ll remain abstinent so WAR tastes all the sweeter at launch.

Several people sent me tells of “HELLO - I read your blog!” this weekend, which was really cool to hear. HI RIGHT BACK ATCHA! ;)

    Oh, I’d like to know :
    - did Devs say anything about anti-aliasing setting ? I know that you can force it via drivers but i’m a little bit surprised that they still didn’t add it to the advanced graphic settings panel.

    - Do 4.1 has re-worked animations that MJ talked about ? Or nothing new in that domain ?

  7. So you’re likin the SH so far? That is probably one of the only classes I won’t want to play because of my burnout on pet classes.

    But squig armor is pretty freakin sweet and them being able to decently do melee dmg is better too :).

    I really like these little lists of points for your experience, it kinds of sums stuff up and gives us info on certain details we may not generally ask about.

  11. First off. Snaf? Be a Rune priest and enter a scenario. It’s a good barometer of the level of the teams.

    Rune Priest unmolested = Either very good tanks or poor target choosing destruction.

    Rune Priest oh so horribly molested like I have been = Destruction saw the Rune, knows the business and ignores everyone including bloody Archmages to jump up and down on my face.

    It’s still fun though.

    Also Open Beta guys aren’t getting wiped? Where did you hear this?
