Hmmm, I wonder if they’re extended this offer to all bloggers? For the record, I haven’t heard anything.

  2. Well you Chaos Cast guys perhaps - we’re nicely under the radar still :-) Good luck with it though!

  5. Bad link. My mistake! Thanks for the catch. :)

Unfortunately, the details why he was given access aren’t known but if they didn’t think he’d let the cat out of the bag, they didn’t do their research because he’s a pretty forthright kinda guy about things like this.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing per say. Kind of a thank you for pimping our game these past months. I’m not asking for free access either. It might make me feel less likely to rip on Mythic when I get po’d. :P

  6. Tobold’s site gets an insane amount of traffic. They gave him free access for the same reason they gave sites like IGN and Gamespot free access: publicity.

  7. I’m with Zubon. It isn’t like I would sell out (yeah, right), but it would be nice to be asked.

  8. Here’s the thing…and I’m not a professional blogger nor do I claim to play one on TV…

The second you accept stuff like free subscriptions from a company (even if it’s a completely innocent gesture), you start to lose a shred of legitimacy.

I don’t doubt for a second that Tobald will be critical of Warhammer and point out it’s flaws when he feels the need to point them out, but the problem is now you can’t read his blog without wondering whether there may be a hint of bias in it.

  10. Why you ban me from yur site…. so mean. Not my fault that you made that stupid post a while ago.

  11. Me? I’ve never banned anyone from this site. :P

Email me with the name/email you wrote the previous comment under and I’ll check my spam tracking. Sometimes it catches posts with too many links or just randomly blocks people’s comments.

  12. Well, I personally wouldn’t accept a free account from Mythic just because some people will jump to the worst possible conclusion no matter what. It isn’t worth the controversy imho. :P

  13. I would accept free access were it given to me; that would make me a contracted journalist (instead of a freelancer)…might be a nice bullet on a resume if I ever go shopping for a game development job (or a journalism job).

Also, that’s $15 a month that I can put toward beer and chicken. @_@ Those are pretty necessary for weekend WAR marathons.
