WAR Beta Videos

August 8, 2008 – 1:01 pm

Just to keep everyone in the loop and actually write something today, I wanted to let you all know where I’m at with my videos. There are the ones I have completed and ready for the NDA lift:

  1. Greenskin Chapter 1 Highlight Reel (three parts - almost 15 minutes total featuring all three careers)
  2. Thunder Valley Greenskin vs. Dwarf T4 Scenario (10 minutes from start to finish on a Black Orc)
  3. Greenskin Chapter 15 Public Quest boss fight (featuring a level 31 Squig Herder in action)
  4. Sample dyes used on Squig Herder RvR set
  5. Introduction to the Squig Herder’s various pets, including Battle Squig
  6. Introduction to one of the Greenskin mounts
  7. Introduction to Character Customization (all races and careers)
  8. Introduction to all 20 careers in T4 RvR gear

I will probably try to get a scenario video for the Squig Herder and Shaman as well so you can see how they play out in RvR. I’m going to try nabbing a keep siege video as wel. Can you think of any other greenskin-related videos you’d like to see? I can’t make any promises, but I’ll give it a shot.

Let me just say, after having played each of the classes throughout some of the higher ranks, I am more confused than ever as to what my main will be. I’m definitely not 100% committed to Shaman anymore because the other two have so much to offer as well.

  2. This is so sweet. I’m gonna be spending way too much time here! Can’t wait for video #2 and #7.

  3. If I did try a greenskin, it would be a shaman for…perhaps predictable reasons. ;)

These videos are a great idea, man. Now we need the NDA and Mythic to break up. Like, soon.

  4. Very nice. Will you also have direct commentary of some sort with these videos, or will it just be an in game film?

By Soapbar on Aug 8, 2008

  5. The plan is to release one or two videos at a time with general commentary about the feature(s) being shown.

The career guides will be a work in progress in that I’d like to show some lower and higher level PvE footage as well as PvP stuff, describing some of their main features, strengths, and weaknesses. I will launch the guides with as much information as I can first and then update them as I learn more.

The most robust guide will be for the career I end up choosing as my main because that’s where I’ll be focusing most of my attention. If necessary, I may ask some experts of the other classes to lend their advice and opinions. :)

  6. How about a Greenskin crafting extravaganza! :)

By Davadoff on Aug 8, 2008

  7. Awesome, look forwards to seeing them!

  8. You had better inform me when the NDA is gone if the Magus is awesome Snafzg! :P

  9. Greenskin emotes and other silliness would be fun to see.

  10. Interesting. The above was not posted by me.

  11. I’m fairly sure no one was convinced it was Keen. I laughed myself when I read the comment and then quickly shook my head. At least you know someone likes you.

  12. Heeeeeeeey, that’s only like the second comment I’ve ever had to delete… EVAR! :P

By Snafzg on Aug 8, 2008

  13. First time for everything, right? Err, second time… whatever.

Keep working on those vids, both of you. Those class reviews helped immensely in terms of getting the word out for AoC, as well as simply helping others learn what the status quo was. I’m sure doing the same for WAR would be… uhh…

…well, when I think of an adjective for the above that isn’t the word “Epic,” I’ll finish that sentence

  14. Hey just wanted to say that i’ve been reading your blog for a long while and have never bothered to write opinions or thanks for the work you’ve done. So, thank you and I hope to contribute or at least comment on your stuff now and again.

  15. No problems, nice to hear from you! :)

I just exported a better dye video and a Thunder Valley run on my Shaman! :) Oh, and I also included a quick intro to the Mastery interface!

I’ve just come to a startling realization though… I have 818MB of videos to upload and Vimeo only gives me 500MB per week! :(

  16. Great, more Destruction footage. If you want to do something new try Order.

By Bob on Aug 9, 2008

  17. Heh, well of the several bloggers I know who are doing videos, I think Order will be covered nicely. I have no interest in playing Order so I’m putting all my spare time in Destruction at the moment.

I did record a 20 minute Archmage gameplay video for Thade of http://archmagery.wordpress.com/ but that won’t be hosted on this site. I’m giving it to him completely. Given how long videos take to make (learning how to play the character enough that I don’t look like a moron, editing, uploading, etc.), I’m really not focusing much beyond Greenskins right now.

  18. Black Orc using Great Choppa. I.e. is it a viable melee compared to marauder?

  19. A truly amazing experience guys.

  21. Ugh, are you serious?

  22. Casualties of War (http://casualtiesguild.com) will be on core ruleset servers. I say servers (plural) because we will have an Order arm as well as a Destruction arm each on it’s own server. Come one, come all today!

By Genda on Aug 10, 2008

  23. Incidently for those who pre-ordered the CE (from the website);

    “Are You Ready for WAR?

    Well you better be!

CE Pre-Orders are being invited in multiple waves, and the first wave has just hit the shore. The servers aren’t up yet but you can prepare to join the WAAAGH by getting the client now!

Remember that CE invites are still subject to eligibility, but everyone who pre-ordered the CE will get in for the Preview Weekend coming up soon!

We’ll have more for you tomorrow, check back then same bat time, same bat channel.

    WAAAGH!!!”
