July 30, 2008 – 12:35 pmNo official word on Mac compatibility yet, but here’s what the WAR Herald lists as minimum system requirements for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning at release. Bear in mind, these are MINIMUM requirements, so you won’t get the best performance, however, you should be able to get by (not based on any beta feedback, just years of experience with PC gaming).

Unfortunately, I can’t really elaborate yet on my current system and performance in beta, but this appears to be what they’re aiming for. I’m quite happy to report that my new computer blows these specs out of the water, so I should be good to play WAR for years into the future. Also of note, these don’t appear to be much higher than World of Warcraft’s minimum system requirements.
Interesting to ponder the timing implications of this announcement. Sounds like they’re really gearing up for NDA drops and open beta (eliminating confusion by officially announcing the minimum specs). To me, this confirms that there is absolutely no chance they will delay release again.

Ah yes, the Greenskin NDA…

am I missing something here? Mythic said in 2006 that there will be no MacOS support, in a Slashdot interview.

Yeah, I remember reading that too, but I thought they might have changed their tune. Not many people have been following this game since 2006 (well, sure a lot, but nowhere near compared to how many there are now and will be), so I thought they might want to reiterate their plans for MacOS.

Just a quick query, how do you know if your card has Pixel shader 2.0, is it a download, is there a way to check or will any card listed above have it?
I have a Nivida 8800 btw.

Hmm, good question Hellebron. I found this page:
http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce8.html
which shows that your card definitely has a shader clock. Depending on the model, it may be very high or a bit lower, but your card will easily make the minimum specs based on Mythic’s released information.

Cheers for that Snafzg, and aye mine is a GT, so looks like I’ll have few worries.
