Lacks of news around here lately
July 25, 2008 – 8:59 amHi all,
Sorry for the lack of posts around here lately. The past week has been pretty slow on the news front (nothing I felt like writing about anyway) but things should start picking up next week, when I’m hoping we’ll see:
- July 2008 Newsletter
- State of the Game Announcement
- ChaosCast #5 Recording
There has been speculation on a collector’s edition pre-order sell out as well as a September 23, 2008 release date for WAR, but none of it has been officially confirmed by EA or Mythic, and I think we’ve learned by now not to get overly excited without proof. I’ve taken the stance of “I’ll believe it when I see it.” Lowered expectations = less of a sting when disappointing news comes your way.
I’ve actually been quite busy behind the scenes, writing articles for the new Warhammer Online Guides section of The Greenskin. Because things have been so slow, I’ll reveal the subjects of the two I’m currently polishing up:
- Greenskin Tier 1 Leveling Guide (including a general WAR leveling guide appendix)
- How to build a WAR-ready PC (advice on low, mid, and high-end system performance)
In other news, my brand new computer just shipped, which I’m pretty happy about. I’m going to make sure I can get everything working before I post about it though… I can’t handle any more bad eggs!
Ugh… Friday. I’m looking forward to campfires and beaches tomorrow. Wish me good weather.

Hope your not near St. Louis, if so you’re going to get rained on.

I didn’t think you guys got anything but snow?
By Werit on Jul 25, 2008
Currently it is 28°C, sunny, and huuuumid!
But yeah, come late October or early November, we usually start getting snow and it lasts until March-ish.

This week has been a killer for news. I can’t wait to read all your guides even tho I won’t be a Greeny. Hope next week is a huge week for news.

Remind me to kill and torture you for that password.
In other news, Gamesday UK is September 14th. I’d set that as the earliest humanly possible release date. More than likely as you say, a week or so beyond that for release or headstart.
I’ll be flying over from Dublin and will hunt all of them down. (GOA is based in Dublin and you know? Still hasnt gotten back to me about the GM job)

Lack of news is an issue, but it seems the new info is coming in waves now. I look forward to checking out what the various sites have to offer.

I’m really looking forward to that PC-building guide. I’d like to be able to take part in the bigger rvr-fights, and I’m on a tight budget, so it would be really good to know what sort of gear I need.

I think the PC guide will be very helpful, I’ve been wondering if my computer would be able to handle everything that WAR has to throw at it. So thanks ahead of time, I’m looking forward to it.

Yeah, slow news prolly until the NDA drops.
I think I’m going to go Order, but will be pissed when Destruction constantly kicks Order’s ass. I don’t know why, but I tend to like the “good” guys in MMOs.
I have been trying to figure out which class to go with and I am becoming more enchanted with the Engineer. I was excited about the White Lion but the recent vids I have seen make them seem a little lame.
So maybe Engineer. But I also kind of like the Shadow Warrior and possibly the Bright Wizard but the Wizard may a little too squishy. Will also research the Archmage and the Runepriest, but I generally stay away from healers.
So that’s what I’m doing WAR-wise while there is not much to do and no new news to gobble up. Oh, looking forward to your guides as well.

Heh, go figure I just updated my computer yesterday. It was a real bear thanks to my SATA drives and a problem with a floppy. But I got that fixed and put up a long post about it myself.
By the way - it’s sunny and in my mid 80’s here today. The beach is about 200 feet away … think I’ll be paying it a visit in a few minutes, check back later.

Great timing for a WAR PC guide. I’m planning a new PC build but I don’t want to go bleading edge this time - budgeting for 2×8800GT if required…
By Ijam on Jul 27, 2008
Without getting overly specific, a dual 8800GT rig kicks ass for most games, so I can’t imagine it would be any different in WAR!

PS. Camp was sweet! It was 25°C, sunny, and breezy on Saturday and nearly the same on Sunday. We got lots of swimming, reading, and hiking in, which was nice.
