New site feature: Guides!
July 16, 2008 – 10:59 amI’m not ready for anyone to see it yet, but you may have noticed the new Guides page link appearing in our navigation up top. It is password protected, but I have mentioned the password on this site before, so feel free to try cracking it! 
I wouldn’t try too many times though… I’m not sure if WordPress IP-blocks repeat crackers (that was not a racial comment)!
The page will basically list all our exclusives from TheGreenskin.com (there are quite a few already and tons more in development) as well as other guides from around the community. They are currently broken down into five main categories, and each category will launch with anywhere from 3-10 guides.
My hope is for this page to become an invaluable resource for Warhammer Online fans around the world. To do this, the page will be community-driven, allowing players to submit new guides. That should make it pretty useful, imho!

oh cool <3 guides.
While I love guides, even saying this as EC of a large network and we’ll have guides ourselves, I don’t like them at launch on a personal level. I feel they take from the game.
Are you planning on having a lot of guides done for launch, or after launch?

Probably a little bit of both.
A lot of guides are already finished but many more are ideas for the future. Some that deal with the actual game haven’t been completed yet due to the NDA, but they’re in development.
Several more won’t be ready for launch, but I hope to have them finished myself or at least linked to on other sites within the first few months.

Snaffy, the fact that you already have guides that are finished is pretty amazing as the game is at least two months away from being released.
The one thing I really love/need in a guide is where to sink my talent points (mastery points?. . . whatever).
A leveling guide is nice if the game has been out for a while. But I’m looking forward to just getting lost in the game for the first few months and generally figuring out how to level as I stumble into new areas. But a guide for where to sink talent points is teh shiznit.

Is your guide going to relate just to greenskins Snafzg. Are you going to just do the trees for the greeny’s. Of course your website is TheGreenskin but what about us who have different alts then greenskins?

Great question.
The guides I create will be specific to Greenskins and the game in general (e.g., RvR, Know your Gods, etc.).
I will not focus on creating guides on this site for Chaos or Empire for example, however, it is my hope that other people will do so and I can just link to them from the Guides page.
So far I have 10 subgategories within five main categories. There are anywhere from 1-4 specific guides per subcategory.
