Letting the dust settle… for now.

Syp just posted a new feature over on his site called The Gab Bag, kind of like the Grab Bag, but different! This time around, he asked Arbitrary, Regis, and I to join him in a discussion breaking down various statements made by Mark Jacobs about the whole Black Friday fiasco.

He nicely prefaces my comments with a statement that I made them very shortly after hearing the announcements, so I was still pretty riled up. Thanks, mate!

That’s pretty much the last I’m going to talk about these issues for a while. At the moment, I feel there’s no sense arguing in circles when we lack so many key details. Apparently, Mythic will make some official statements soon (hopefully, not just the recent Q&A pieces on the Herald…) to clarify capital cities, classes, and punkbuster. Mark has also hinted at releasing a new State of the Game announcement soon.

I will definitely respond once new information is released, but I’ve pretty much said all I can say right now. I’m still very disappointed, but I’m hoping they can resolve or avoid some of the major arguments I’ve brought up. Ultimately, they could keep their lips zipped and I’d still give this game a try at release, but if you read the little “About Us” box in the upper-right hand corner of this site, you know I’ll continue to call it as I see it. That is, afterall, what the core of this blog is all about. A personal soapbox for me to vent when I’m angry and gush when I’m happy.
