Forum Watch (July 1 - July 8, 2008)
July 7, 2008 – 4:47 pm
What time is it again? Oh right, time for Forum Watch! Welcome to the next exciting adventure into the vast unknown that is WAR. Brought to you by that lovely old goat, TheGreenskin.com! And your ever dashing host, me! Cicadymn! Now that the introductions are once again out of the way, lets talk about what we’re going over this week. As time passes we’re getting closer to the NDA drop, which is making everyone a little on edge as we desperately await the word to go and blab about the game. Of course by we, I mean, everyone else that’s in beta. I’m in the same boat as most of you guys waiting on the invite that I’m sure, has only gotten temporarily lost in the mail. Any-who, there’s lots more then just NDA talk going on so check out these links to visit the best of the best around the community. On a side note, I did for the first time visit the official AoC forums today. Let me just say, I’m glad I’m out here with you guys. I have a feeling that the WAR community, not all of the games innovations or play-style, but the community is what is going to make this game great. But before I start getting sappy, lets get to the threads! And remember: Stay Ready, WAR is coming.
Starting with those left out last week, and you wont be disappointed
- It’s been a long, LONG ride for Warhammer fans, with twists and turns abounding, heartbreak and celebration around every corner. But the delays have caused more then an ache in our hearts and a spring in our step, it’s also had a profound effect on our guilds. I know my guild Artillery (www.warartillery.com) was originally slated to become a destruction guild, yet with the waiting we’re enduring the small thought of switching factions has crawled into my guild leaders mind, and honestly, it could go either way. I think we’ll be making our decision at the end of open beta, but one thing is for sure, we’re looking for a challenge and if the underdogs are going to be Order or Destruction, that remains to be seen.
- Are you single? Wa-wait what? Freudian slip, never mind that first part. Back to what I was saying. Being Female in MMO’s and well, gaming in general. It must be pretty hard handling the constant lies about your gender, accusing eyes of every horny male player who catches a wiff of your femininity. What’s it like? Well, probably the second most confusing screen named/avatared man in gaming has a pretty good idea. Stop on over and check out Wrenn’s take on female gamers. Oh, and I’ll take a ham and cheese…you know, whenever you get the chance.
Just when you thought I was all fun and games
- I hit you with a hard left from the Warhammer Alliance Forums. In previous MMO’s fighting bosses and secrets to different builds or strategies has always been hush hush to keep your competition, whether they are on your side or not. Is this a trend that we might see continue in WAR? The answer we want to give is “no of course not, we’ll always work together.” But when push comes to shove, will we? Will we possibly give up our top of the line position and ideas to better aid our allies? One thing is definite at this point, we wont know until it comes time to play.
So you’re new to the Warhammer Universe and are sick of all these inside jokes
- Like, Sigmar, Magnus, and Karl all walk into a pub… Well, lets just leave that one right there. But in all seriousness. Do you have any idea who those people are? If you answered No to even one of those names, then it’s time you visit this thread! Rowhin over at Warhammer Alliance has put together a nice little (Ha! See what I did there?) list for everyone to come and learn about the Warhammer setting! Stop on over and give him his props!
Blood for the Blood God? Heh, not if you’re going for Teen!
- Or maybe not. Over at WAR-RvR the boyz are discussing the addition of blood in WAR and whether or not it’s going to make the final game. What happens if it doesn’t? Could there be a user created addon to show it? People are so in-depth these days you never can tell. Then again, I suppose we’ll have to wait and see it’s rating to find out. Because some of us aren’t loved enough to be in the beta. *cry*. Then again I guess that makes me more like the readers in a lot of ways.
I think beta might be some sort of alien word that no one understands
- Because honestly, how many times do they have to tell you it’s not a finished project before you get it through your head? Looking up old videos and trying to judge the game via a video from a crappy camera compressed down to the most fuzzy picture you can get, it just boggles my mind that people are complaining about animations and graphics pre-release. Luckily the boyz at WAR-RvR were quick to point out that the old video was old and we’ve come a long way. Stop on over to check out just how far!
Class specific loot. Yea it’s a good idea
- I don’t know how someone could argue that getting loot that not only applies to you but can be used and is something you might just need! There’s nothing like getting that healing mace as a melee DPS or two handed sword with strength and agility on it as a squishy healer. Worse case scenario, take the gold! Seems like a win/win situation to me.
- What would WAR be like if rather then a constant power struggle at the gates, there is a series of quests that both sides can try to complete. Say, that once the battle to retake the city begins the daemon that Chaos had succeded in summoning and Order failed to stop would be front and center to help keep the order at bay. Alternately, the Order could get a leg up by preventing that daemon from being summoned and using that to their advantage. Stop on over to Only-WAR and take a look to see what other ideas are being formulated in that thread.
As the game advances, NDA is getting worried as the lift comes closer
- So, as we’ve all noticed that WAR is finally moving forward, more and more things are being revealed, but what, when the NDA is finally gone, are you looking forward to learning about the most? The boyz at VN Boards WAR have already jumped on that horse and are taking it to town! Stop on over to let everyone know what you’re biggest morsel of information is going to be.
What’s the status of the close beta and that ever present mud on the release date
- Well check out page five of this thread to get a word on it from Mark Jacobs. While you’re there, don’t forget to stick around for the discussion topic! What are you going to do when open beta comes to town?
- That’s the question the boyz over at TenTonHammer WAR are conversing about. They’re wanting to know when WAR launches will it really be ready? Or will they have to push it out the door with what they have done even though they would rather spend more time on it. Either way, you can bet I’ll be playing. But you better stop by and let them know what you think!
So we’ve been over why there isn’t an official forum, but lets take a deeper look!
- Kudos to Zeevv at TenTonHammer WAR for putting this thread together. He goes into detail about why we’re not seeing much, if any, annoying and downright stupid behavior (although he puts it more bluntly). Stop on over to check out this fresh look at an old topic.
