The “Coming Soon” button uncovered?
April 26, 2008 – 1:42 pmIf you’ve been wondering about the “Coming Soon” navigation button over at Warhammer Online, you should take a look at this interesting theory by Dave of Warhammer Gamers. He did some investigating that validates my original guess!
I always thought Warhammer Online.com would include a “Realms” page similar to what they have for DAOC’s Camelot Herald. This page would allow you to navigate deeply into the various servers, RvR ladder rankings, and individual characters. My hope is that they make the Realms page a hybrid of the Tome of Knowledge, Camelot Herald, and WoW’s Armory. Basically, your one-stop-shop for everything you could possibly want to know about each character in the game.
Try to fathom how much information that would be… Damn, I hope EA has some mighty large, powerful, and high-bandwidth servers!

This reason for the “button” was revealed in one of the videos from the NY Comic Con. I can’t remember which one it was in, but I know it was specifically addressed. Also, Mark Jacobs confirmed to us that there would be a “statistics” page . . and he is also trying to get a player’s Tome of Knowledge on the page as well. But specifically, you will absolutely see guild listings and rankings online at the official site.

That’s exactly what I want. It really allows you to play the meta-game outside the real game. You may not be able to progress your character on the Web, but you can read through your ToK or form strategies out-of-game, which saves you time when you get in-game

@Wrenn - Did they specifically say THAT button would be a link to it? Well if they did then I feel like less of a detective but I’m sure I helped out a few people as I still saw people saying it would be a link to the open beta page.

Yeah they did say that Dave. If I remember it correctly, the words they used were, “You might have noticed a link that says ‘coming soon’ on the official site. What that is for is . . .”
I wish I can find the interview it is in. It is a fairly recent one.
