Forum Watch (April 9 - April 15, 2008)

Here here! It’s time for the newest Forum Watch! Brought to you by thegreenskin.com and your favorite blog poster…Cicadymn! This week we’re looking over WAR and checking out the various facets of our community. Finally got a little bit of information on crafting, as well as players opinions on all matters of thing WAR and WAR-like. So stop on by to your favorite forum and post whats on your chest! Maybe I’ll pick it up next week. And stay ready: WAR is coming.

Marauder? Black Orc? Squig Herder! Ohhhh they’re all so good!

• So if you’re like me you’re having a hard time trying to pick a class you really want to play. The boys over at Warhammer Alliance are having the same dilemma, but as we’ve come to expect from WA more people chimed in and brought to light how they ended up choosing their suspected main. Myself, I’m stuck between a Black Orc and a Marauder. They both look amazing! Not to mention the countless alts I’m sure to be rolling. I’m sure I’m going to put it upon myself to have a maxed character in at least every race. Though my destruction toons will feel much more beloved by their master.

Here it is! I can’t believe they’re finally throwing us a bone!… or a leech for that matter

• Ta-Da! I present to you…Crafting! Well, sort of. This leech sized portion of information is the first lick of the crafting lollypop so to speak. So far we’ve seen scavenging and cultivating. I’m extra excited for Aprils newsletter now. Chances are we’ll be getting some more crafting information since the cats out of the bag. Now if we can finally get an official word on the final High Elf class…

Head Start, a time for WAR addicts to test out those new energy drinks

• Over at WAR-RvR we see players arguing over the head start program. How long is it going to be? Will there be a level cap? What all can we do? Apparently someone is sporting a tidbit of information supposedly coming from Josh Drescher, but we are on the internet so you better take the comment with a bowl of salt. Check it out and throw in your opinion on the head start program!

Ever feel like clawing your face off when you miss out on closed Beta invites? I know I do

• Aside from homicidal tendencies when missing out on a chance to get into the closed beta, do you ever feel like you deserve to be in it so much more than those kids who can draw really good? WELL YOU DON’T! *Ahem* Rather, if they have a talent and can stock up WAR’s cool image surplus then they deserve a reward for their hard work. But sometimes I wish they’d give rewards to unfunny blog posts about forums…Oh well, a guy can dream.

Aside from the half naked males, they’ll be some half naked females! Yaaay!

• Well not many though. This thread over at Only-WAR made me smile because I never really thought about it. Since WAR is keeping away from the cutesy factor it never occurred to me how females may dress in this game. Nothing like a plate G-string with more armor count than a whole sheet of metal. However it looks like the only time we’ll be seeing them is on Chaos Zealot males and Witch Elves. Luckily being a fungus, I as a greenskin don’t have to worry about feminine wiles. Only bashin’ DA BoyZ skullz!

As much as I would enjoy being in a marauding horde of death…I probably wouldn’t…

• So Angelopoulos over at Only-WAR asked the question: “If WAR was real what would you be?” This good sized thread if full of funny comments and surprisingly thought out responses. Myself, even though I put on an act about how badly I wish to maim and hurt the order, I’m secretly a really nice guy in real life. Therefore, I most likely would end up as a warrior priest. Which is cool by me, but not as badass as being a giant green fungus with spikes and metal armor. What would you want to be? What do you think, with the way you act in real life, you would end up being?

So we’re basically done…Buuuuuuuttttt I want to watch you squirm for six months

• It’ll bring me…pleasure…Not really. I suppose that is how we view the staff over at Mythic acting, but in all reality I’m sure they’re not to thrilled about it either. Over at VN Boards we can find some players discussing whether or not WAR really needs the extra time to be finished. In my opinion, if thats what the devs say they need. Then we should give it to them. You have to be the best of the best to get out of the shadow of a ten million foot tall mountain looming over the MMO industry. With this extra time for polish, I’m sure they’ll shine even brighter once they do.

After a little while, even addicts have to keep their minds occupied until the next hit comes around

• So what are you people doing until the WAR open beta/release? I’m still busy in school (I hope I don’t fail discrete math) and work, not to mention the countless hours playing TF2 and slowly converting my WoW fanboi friends into joining the dark underbelly that is WAR. They’ll see the light! Oh yes they’ll see the light. One day, in the twinkling of an eye they’ll see the light…And low, that light shall be the giant wave of armor clad destruction that is a horde of rampaging greenskins. But I digress, what are you doing while you’re waiting on Warhammer?

While no word on housing, we at least know guilds will have a place to relax before a hard days fight

• Yup, we see that WAR will have guild specific taverns, well…A guild tavern, that is instanced for each guild. It’ll be a great place to stock up on trophies and actually bring your guild to for a meeting. It’ll be cool to have a designated place that is catered to your specific guild. I can’t wait to see how it turns out and how customized we can make it in the end.
