Forum Watch (March 26 - April 1, 2008)

Forum WatchHey WAR fans! Welcome back to the newest edition of Forum Watch. You’re host Cicadymn reporting for duty! It’s been a pretty active week lately, with information coming in about the collectors edition, the delay, and massive forum riots over how bad we want this game. It’s my non-professional opinion that this’ll be the last delay. I’m hoping we’ll get information on crafting, Helf DPS class, and some more Black Guard Information. But any ways, lets get to the fun stuff. This week I traversed the internet looking for collectors edition threads that sparked my fancy along with anything else that I thought to be in good spirits. We’ve got a great video that everyone needs to watch regardless of whether or not they’ve seen it, and even an interview with a female WAR player. Hopefully more to come on everything we’ve seen so far this week. Don’t forget: Stay Ready, WAR is coming.

European Collectors Edition comes with a mouse pad, a really really nice $45 bucks extra mouse pad

  • Why does everything seem so much more awesome across the pond? Fish and Chips, Haggis, saying blimey. Well granted that’s more British than Euro it’s suffice to say that initially it looks like European pre-orders are getting better collectors edition a nice mouse pad with it. Then we come to the realization that the mouse pad is adding another 45 bucks to the price! Suffice to say, I’m pleased with everything I’m getting anyways, without any expensive additions.

If you’re a Warhammer fan, I demand you watch this video [If you've already seen it you're not excused. Watch it again!]

  • Watch this video, it is one of the best I’ve seen. If you’re needing a little more Paul then this video is exactly what you’re looking for. To best sum it up I’ll give a quote from the video:
    • THEM: ‘W-w-why would that be there?’
    • PAUL: ‘Cause it’s a Chaos Demon!’
    • THEM: ‘Well what’s the reason for it being there?’
    • PAUL: ‘Because its CHAOS! It’s just there…’
    • THEM: ‘W-well won’t people get upset?’
    • PAUL: ‘No, they’ll get KILLED! …It’ll be AWESOME!’” Indeed, it will be awesome.

Why yes, I’m part of the select 60,000

  • It might sound like a lot right now, but put in context of the 600,000+ sign ups for the beta, and soon to be millions of players that are sure to come after launch, we’ll find ourselves a rather elite crew! Stop by and sound off in WAR-RvR if you’ve gotten yours already. Protip: Order from Amazon, you’ll have your codes within seconds!

Do you prefer to be free and feel the wind beneath your wings, or caged with your combatants like you’re some sort of crazy bird gladiators

  • Despite my poor attempt at coming up with a clever analogy for Open vs Instanced RvR we find the boys over at WAR-RvR throwing their preferences in the ring to see which comes out. Do you prefer the free flow of Open RvR? Or the skills required to master instanced RvR against other organized groups? Ironically it looks like a horde of Open RvR favoring fans are steamrolling instanced RvR fans. I’m sure it’s a sign of whats to come.

I was under the impression that there were only men on the internet. I demand to know how many more have been lurking in the dark corners of the internets!

  • Aside from my pointless demands, there are apparently a few females gamers looking forward to getting into WAR. And Warhammer Vault is planning on exposing them, one woman at a time. At any rate, if you’ve ever wondered about what kind of girls play WAR, and what it feels like to be a female slaughtering hordes of males then stop on over and give Sharksnack…sharpstick…Oh! Shystaratgyk [and I thought I had a tough name] a round of applause for keeping this environment from being a complete sausage-fest!

NO! You have to wear that mask that makes you look like a bloody murderer! I don’t care if you’re the holiest priest of Sigmar!

  • We find Warhammer conflict locked in a battle of wits trying to decide just how much of your armor should you be able to turn off! I personally think only the helmet and cloak should be able to be turned off, however there are plenty of people that go into more detail than I just did. Stop by and let them know how you feel about it!

And we come full circle to the greatest question in the MMO universes…Are you transgender?

  • While I may have exaggerated that this is the greatest question in MMO history, it certainly is a common one. I can only think of the times I’m sitting around with my friends in the commons talking about playing games and eventually when this question is brought up there is much laughing and ardent defending of personal beliefs that fall into said transgender category. It’s not uncommon for men to change their sex in game. I for one, will only play male, as it is my natural gender and only feels right to me. But hey, whatever floats your boat, or kills groups of enemies I suppose…

Another fantastic thread from Morg’th N’Throg over at Only-WAR, batting 1000? I think so.

  • Never to be disappointed I stumbled upon another great thread by my favorite forum admin over at Only-WAR. Apparently Morg had a little phone call from Mark Jacobs and got a chance to discuss whats going on in WAR with him. Step on over and check it out! He’s got a link to the phone call transcript in the first post and after reading let them know what you thought about it!
