Forum Watch: March 18 - March 25, 2008

March 26, 2008 – 10:22 pm

Forum WatchWelcome everyone to the next exciting installment of Forum Watch! I’m your host with the most, Cicadymn. This week we’re deviating from last weeks plan and getting back to the basics. We’re looking all over again and perhaps we’ll feature a forum again. We’ll just wait a week or so and not do it every week. Especially with the onslaught of information that’s coming out. I hope everyone had plenty of time to get their preorder’s done! I know I did! I just hope everything goes alright. I never feel good about it till the games in my hand. But I digress. Back to you! The people of WAR. Here’s what tickled my fancy this week. Make sure to come back next week and see if your thread gets featured here on thegreenskin. And don’t forget: Stay ready, WAR is coming

My Title will be Cicadymn, the awesome dragon slayer of solstice power super mega killer man hero master

  • So over at War-RvR we find some posters wonder, that if they could make a title, what they would want it to be and what requirements it would have. Aside from my obviously non-sterotypical title, you should stop by and help the boys figure out something cool or put in your opinion on what you think they’re going to do.

A great Discussion thread regarding PQ’s and the loot system. Check it out, people are really getting into it

  • This impressive thread has gotten a bit of a response out of the community. Long posts, thought out responses and a quite a big wall of text to help feed your warhammer needs. Long story short, will healers heal if they don’t get as many points? Will they get as many points if they don’t? What do you think? Go let them know.

Will the Elves be the ultimate race choice for PvP’ers?

  • A poster here at Only-WAR brings up the fact that since Elves will basically level nearly on top of one another will they be more PvP oriented than the other races that start further away from one another? The general idea is that no, no they wont be. That was until someone mentioned an Open RvR server. It seems to be the agreed upon conclusion that having a server with a set of rules like that would make the Elves zone into a 24/7 deathfest. Disagree? Stop by and tell them so!

The Raven Host Marches, WAR is made

  • In this thread at only war Alluvian grants us another summary of the “March of the Raven Host” news post that was submitted a few days ago for us to read. In this thread we’re taking a look at a few screenshots and conversing about how we think it’s going, as well as our hopes and dreams for coming updates. Stop by and spill your guts! (Not literally, wait till release day and I’ll do that for you.)

Just because I’ve killed you doesn’t mean I should stop there…I’m gonna burn your house down!

  • On the vnboard’s today we see a thread started about personal housing. Many posters like how Mythic treated in housing in Dark Age of Camelot, but at the same time other posters don’t want to worry about that. Personally I don’t mind housing, if they had a player housing section that was actually attackable, not so much to steal things, but rather to simply burn down all your enemies homes as another symbol of how you have taken them over. At least I’ll be content with guild halls, or guild taverns. I hope WAR takes guilds from having a list of players to help you finish Quest X only to return the favor to Y players instance. To a more friendly atmosphere, a guild tavern or house could really help bring people together in my opinion. Guild meetings around a roaring fire in a hall full of trophies of your conquests? What’s not to like!

Bind on Equip and Bind on Pickup, apparently not as popular as I thought

  • In this VNboard thread we find some posters talking about how they feel about the pick up rules. I never thought about it to be honest, but apparently its a heated topic. People blame ninja’ing on looting rules and the such. To be honest I never thought much about how they worked. I just took them for what they were worth. After playing Tabula Rasa for a little while I noticed how different a game could be with the way looting works. Stop by and let them know what you think.

Just because we’re Fanboi’s, doesn’t mean we have to love every last detail

  • In this thread we’re looking at the not-so-lighter side of Warhammer. Things that, if we had to say we were worried about, we could. From not immediately being ushered into the Beta when a contest has been won, and the lack of any enemy collision detection to be seen in the videos. There are a surprising number of things you can point out if you put your mind to it.

Finally! Someone besides me is wondering about them!

  • Apparently I’m not the only person who has had trouble with credit card payments for MMOs, as such I’m almost an entirely game time card kind of guy. It’s just something about recurring payments that frosts my pumpkin. But Over at Warhammer conflict apparently they’re feeling the same way. What do you prefer? Time card or Monthly payment? Ever had a bad experience with either? Stop by and let them know!

~Sam
