Forum Watch (March 3 - March 9, 2008)
March 12, 2008 – 8:38 pmEveryone welcome to another exciting adventure into Forum Watch, mid-term edition! As you can see it’s been a rather hectic week few weeks for myself and many other college students, unfortunately it’s been a slow WAR information trickle as well. But at any rate we’ve got another exciting line up featuring posts from Only-War, and Warhammer Alliance. Check them out and see what everybody has to say about these potentially controversial issues. I’ll see you next week. Cicadymn, signing out. Oh! Don’t forget: Stay ready, WAR is coming
Kill-report in chat? Perhaps…Perhaps…
- So you’re just minding your business, showing the squigs of WAR your wrath. I mean, how dare they be existing on your soil, but anyways, suddenly a report comes in and you see that a group of the opposing race has just tromped through a group of people you’ve grouped with and found to be generally fun players. Are you going to take that lying down? This kill-report is something that Mythic did in Dark Age of Camelot and something that the people in this thread actually enjoyed. Will it give you a sense of realm pride? Or will you just be embarrassed as your name shows up for the fiftieth time in the chat?
Call to Arms, annoying spam? Or a source of Realm Pride?
- Call to Arms, this is something that Mythic did as well in Dark Age of Camelot. It’s another way of letting players know when one of their towns or keeps are under attack. This hopefully will result in players stopping whatever they are doing, whether it be killing their 100th squig or playing with the yet unreleased crafting system, and haul ass over to the trouble area. This would help deepen not only the RvR combat but the sense of realm pride as players sacrifice to keep their area safe.
Siege monsters, just in case a huge gun can get the job done.
- Ok, so we’ve got cannons, orc-a-pults, steam tanks, and giants carrying giant bombs, now what else? ITT: We’re trying to figure out whether or not having a sort of siege “monster” to help assault keeps, towns, and cities. What would be cooler than summoning a dragon to help blow down the resistance? Or having a giant drunken…Giant to come beat on those pesky stunties. No word on it. Just theoryhammering in here.
Racial leaders, giant orgy pile of death? Or instanced best of the best?
- So how do you think Mythic will treat Racial Leaders? We know PvE boss encounters are going to be instanced. But what about Racial leaders? It seems to me if they aren’t instanced then if a group of players makes it into the throne room, they’ll be followed by a massive terrible orgy of constant death, explosions, loling, moar dotz, more death, vengeance, and well…you get the picture. The only thing I can picture would be a youtube video of random players raiding a city in WoW and massively raping the leader using sheer numbers. Hardly ever even seeing the leader. While it would be awesome to pile everyone who helped fight in and explode all over the respective city leaders face, it might be a better idea to go instance. Perhaps multiple city leaders? Groups Queue up or players queue up in a public group to go in and fight their own version of the city leader? Well I dunno, whatever they decide to do will effectively define their end game. So I’m sure they’ve put a lot more thought into it than I have.
March 2008 newsletter Theoryhammering
- In the wake of the February newsletter Warhammer fans grow more restless with anticipation. Every month that goes by without word on the crafting system, or final high elf class makes players more and more anxious as time passes. Link006 has complied a list of things to come. Whether it be the next month or on down the road. Many things are expected that are listed but I think we’re all hoping for a little bit more. Stop by and help theoryhammer out your ideas of whats to come.
