Warhammer: Forge of War TPB (trade paperback)
January 4, 2008 – 6:38 pm
Josh Drescher just wrote a little entry about Warhammer: Forge of War published by BOOM! Studios. Even as a fairly avid comic book reader (albeit Marvel and Dark Horse), I’ve never heard of BOOM! Studios, let alone Warhammer: Forge of War, so I’m very happy to have learned about them. I’ll have to check in with my local comic book shop to see if they plan on bringing this in or if it will be a special order.
On the plus side, if you can’t get your hands on a hard copy, Boom Studios plans on releasing free versions of each book (see update below) in CBZ file format (similar to a RAR or ZIP archive - can be unzipped by any of these types of programs and then viewed in CDisplay). If you like it, try buy it!
I don’t think the four-book series follows any particular storyline from Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, however, it is based in the “fantasy” universe, not 40k. Regardless, it should be good supplemental reading, just like the novels.
The only negative is that it doesn’t focus on Greenskins. Boo! Hiss!
Let’s hope Rory of Secret Lives of Mobs gets picked up by a comic book studio when he’s finished school. He knows his Greenskins and the art is amazing.
UPDATE: Chip Mosher, Marketing and Sales Director at BOOM! Studios was kind enough to correct me on a bit of misinformation. They are releasing free online copies of NORTH WIND not Warhammer: Forge of War at this point in time. NW is not a Warhammer book, but if you check out the trailer, it looks great! Visit MySpace Comics to check out North Wind!
Chip was also awesome enough to offer me free advance copies of Warhammer: Forge of War to review on this site, and we’re ironing out the details right now. I can’t wait to check it out! ![]()
