Prediction 2008 — Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

January 1, 2008 – 1:01 am

Joe Ludwig, Director of Development at Flying Lab Software (working on the upcoming MMO Pirates of the Burning Sea) makes this prediction:

Warhammer Online is going to launch late in the year. Yeah, they’re saying spring but they’re going to slip again. It will be the second “traditional” MMO to crack one million     subscribers between the US and Europe, but isn’t going to approach WoW numbers.

  4. I don’t know… They are making a new cinematic, as the old one has been edited for the year too many times (2006, 2007, 2008…)

What argument do you suppose mythic might use to delay to fall/winter this time? Further RvR polish? DX10?

  5. If they support DX10, I hope they don’t make it a requirement… I was really hoping to play WAR for a while without having to upgrade my old AGP PeeCee!

I don’t think they’ll delay again though. Six months should be more than enough time to take it from the current beta build to something worth releasing bug free and polished like a chrome bumper. I am looking forward to the new cinematic though… The Marauder and Squig Herder models look amazing so far! :)

  6. Switching to DX10 would be an enormous mistake. Adding DX10 support should be something optional that they add a few months + beyond release.
