So… what are you all about, anyway?
November 21, 2007 – 9:30 pmAs I prepare to officially launch The Greenskin tomorrow, I thought it might be a good idea to let you know what this site will be all about. But first, I want to share with you, my inspirations and reasons for starting this site:
Money, fame, and hot dark elf chicks (so long as there’s a safe word). Come on, can you think of any better reasons!?
Some green (aka money) would be nice at some point in the future, but you won’t see any ads around here for a long time (and if you ever do, they’ll be relevant to WAR)! The MMO Guildsite banner under “Our Friends” isn’t actually a sponsor of this site. The creator is a personal friend and I think he’s got the best guild hosting service around. He doesn’t pay me to show it, nor would I ever ask him to.
Fame? Not so much… but I do enjoy helping people out and it’s a nice feeling when they thank me for it. The original inspiration for this site was born from my other blog, Brainclutter. It is the site that first got me into blogging and my articles about WoW Shadow Priests started getting a fair amount of attention in the MMORPG community. They have a combined total of about 50,000 views, which is pretty decent considering I’ve never tried marketing them very hard. It’s weird to think that tens of thousands of people have read something I wrote out of an interest for gaming… weird enough to give me the itch to devote myself to doing the same with Warhammer Online, whenever the bloody thing gets released!
Dark elf chicks? I’m anticipating a bonk on the head from my wifey for that one.
At the moment, I don’t have any industry contacts but I’m definitely trying to establish a good network. Initially, much of my material will come from other sources, though I’ll put a personal spin on each one. I say “I” right now because there is only one writer for this blog at the moment… me! There’s a Google doc full of great original content ideas for this blog and many will be of “feature length.” I’ll start dipping into the well next week. Some of my ideas will require an extra hand or two around here, so there may be opportunities for you to join the team sometime down the road.
What’s this whole webcomic thing about? Mostly, it’s a reason for me to start getting graphically creative again. Plus, I like to think that my wit is at least somewhat sharp (somewhere between a tack and silly putty) and it’s a fun way to challenge my writing as well. The greenskins appear to be the most entertaining race in WAR, so a humour-based comic on them seemed pretty obvious. I wanted to be the first one to focus on its development.
Anyway, I hope you stick around and enjoy what you see. Enjoy it SO much, that you feel like leaving a comment, or subscribing to the feed!
See you tomorrow with my first webcomic and a chance at winning some great prizes! ![]()

Well good luck. Thus far everything seems great and I imagine the launch went much better than planned with a bunch of positive feedback. As I said, if you need any help or ideas, I may not be good with art but I can write.

Looks like a great blog, a good place to keep track of WAR development and ideas with other fans before it comes out.

Well, other people interested in WAR anyway, can’t say i’m a fan just yet but Warhammer Online is looking good so far

The greenskins do seem to be the “comic relief” race in the game. In making a humor-based comic, I don’t think you could have made a better choice (and I’m not just saying that since I’ll be rolling Destruction either) :).

@Arkane - I’ll get in touch via email soon!
@Knash - I hope it continues to grow!
Only time will really tell, oh yeah, and some great articles too!
I’ve started to ramp up my forum involvement with WarhammerAlliance, War-RvR.net, and MMORPG.com as well, so hopefully that will start driving some traffic.
@Vasagi - Me loves da Greenies!
